Top left corner: Crystal, Male Congo African Grey. Managed to chew a hole in the water line for the fridge.
Top Right Corner: Snuggles, Female Goffin Cockatoo. Loves to take baths and then rub up against her red toys to dye herself pink. Perhaps she was a flamingo in her former life.
Bottom Left Corner: Susy-Q, Female Congo African Grey. Makes "death squawk" when exposed to water.
Bottom Right Corner: Jeordie, Female (Lesser) Jardine's Parrot. The one who started it all. Only bird in our flock to be bought at a pet store, she nearly died because she wasn't properly weaned (the rest of our birds were bought from breeders who were responsible for saving Jeordie).
About Us
California Bird Nerds is run by Jeanne with loving help from her husband Mike. Jeanne retired from her job teaching high school biology to devote all her time to making bird toys. Mike is a computer tech at the local junior college.
How did we get our name?
Jeanne was telling another teacher how she and her husband cook and care for their birds. The teacher responded, "You guys are a bunch of bird nerds."
