Two types of food coloring are sold below. We recommend that you mix them with rubbing alcohol or vinegar to prevent the growth of bacteria. When you dye your toys the alcohol will evaporate and leave the color behind. If you are going to dye rope, the alcohol produces better (and brighter) results. It seems that 70% strength (or weaker) alcohol works the best; for some reason we have had problems with the dye clumping when we used 90% alcohol.
We recommend the liquid food coloring for the beginner, and the gel for the serious toy maker. Click on the product for mixing directions.
